On Friday February 3, 2017, join us for Let’s Talk Food, a Mayors’ panel discussion at City Hall! We’ll be talking regionalism, growth, preserving agricultural land, and food systems with:
- Mayor Don Iveson, City of Edmonton
- Chief Billy Morin, Enoch Cree Nation
- Mayor Lisa Holmes, Town of Morinville
- Mayor Tom Flynn, Sturgeon County
This is the opening event for Cultivating Connections 2017: Alberta Regional Food Systems Forum. It’s hosted by the Edmonton Food Council and the City of Edmonton, with partners FLedGE and Alberta Food Matters.
Tweet your questions for the Mayors with the hashtags #askEFC #Cultivate 2017! We’ll be collecting questions to ask the Mayors. Some examples include: How can our region thrive as a prosperous, growing place, with resilient local and regional food systems? How do we preserve land for agriculture and food systems as our region grows and changes? How can we better “cultivate connections” between our communities?
As part of the celebration, the Edmonton Food Council has paired five local chefs with five local food producers. Taste Alberta is sponsoring ingredients for the chefs, who will present dishes using those local ingredients. Samples from local breweries will also be available for participants to try.
